Ex-Brown Rudnick European Head of IP Alexander Carter-Silk has joined Keystone Law’s Intellectual Property (IP) team alongside his long-term colleague Claire Blewett.

Over the course of his 30-year career, Alexander has appeared as lead adviser in a number of seminal technology, IP and commercial court cases. His main specialist area involves resolving complex disputes and advising on the closure of complex commercial agreements. As a litigator, Alexander has a first-rate history of resolving cases involving sophisticated technology, digital, IP and competition law. He is also experienced in dealing with cross-border cases involving multiple jurisdictions.

A trusted adviser to companies from a range of market sectors including the digital technologies, software, life science, insurance, manufacturing, FinTech, creative and fashion industries, Alexander also regularly advises entrepreneurs, celebrities and politicians.

Claire Blewett has extensive experience advising on contentious and non-contentious matters involving the protection and exploitation of intellectual property. She has specialist knowledge of licensing, franchising and conflict-of-law issues in a wide variety of industries including technology (in particular, software), life science, fashion, creative and insurance.

Both Alexander and Claire are skilled IP litigators and commercial lawyers with highly specialist digital expertise,” said James Knight, founder and CEO of Keystone Law. “Their profound understanding of the technicalities involved in these, often complex, cases will be a tremendous strength to the team.

Mark Machray, who spearheads recruitment, added: “We are seeing a growing number of enquiries from US-firm-based practitioners and have made several other appointments hailing from key market players, including insurance solicitor James Crabtree (Cooley), restructuring and insolvency expert Alan Gar (McDermott Will & Emery), and shipping specialist Dharmendra Nair (Squire Patton Boggs).”

Alexander continued:

As the digital world evolves and businesses adopt new and disruptive technologies, it is an interesting time to be involved in intellectual property litigation. Claire and I look forward to working closely with Keystone’s well-established team and playing a solid role in the development of the firm’s IP and broader dispute resolution practices.

Claire added:

Keystone is highly regarded for its IP capabilities and perfectly positioned to handle all manner of commercial issues. I am excited to be joining this forward-thinking team and working in a hugely entrepreneurial and collaborative culture.
