Legal services provider Keystone Law has hired Stephen McCue, former Nokia European legal and intellectual property director, as part of a continuing hiring initiative.

McCue, who is dual-qualified in England and Wales and Hong Kong, worked at Nokia from 2007 to 2012, before which he served as head of enterprise contracts at Vodaphone.

His areas of expertise include technology law, media and telecoms, software licensing, and e-commerce.

He joins Keystone as a consultant solicitor.

At Keystone, a platform law firm, lawyers work remotely, using an online office platform supported by the firm’s London headquarters.

The firm sees its unusual structure as a solution for its clients’ “commercial challenges“.

Founder and managing partner James Knight has commented: “I think clients are becoming more cost conscious as the downturn in the economy continues, and [as a response] are becoming more aware of the models out there.”

In a separate statement, he said: “We offer value for money.”

“There’s no duplication, for instance paying both a senior associate and a junior lawyer.”

“The only thing we have stripped out are the large offices and time spent commuting and other inefficiencies.”
