Since joining Keystone, Clare’s practice has focused on advising clients in the commercial and charitable sectors whose activities are centred on Sub-Saharan Africa. She has a particular interest in international development and conservation and has worked on developing, implementing and financing complex infrastructure projects that have pro-development goal, as well as supporting and advising companies on a range of additional matters.
Clare is well-versed in working on a wide variety of documents and issues and drafting bespoke commercial agreements, to suit the particular needs of her clients.
Clare is that rare combination of a commercially focused business adviser and a deeply knowledgeable and astute legal expert. She is an excellent draftsperson AND she can close complex deals. Clare eagerly takes on new and challenging tasks and always comes up with clear, thoughtful and actionable recommendations based on thorough research and cogent analysis. Her tireless devotion to her clients, resourcefulness, attention to detail and willingness to contribute, no matter what the task, truly sets her apart from other legal counsel. She is a joy to work with and adds tremendous value to any transaction she touches.
I have greatly enjoyed working with Clare for over 9 years on multiple African projects including renewable and conventional IPPs, transportation, water and agriculture projects. Clare has a deep understanding of project structuring and commercial agreement drafting and negotiation. She displays great attention to detail in drafting robust agreements that provide for all possible eventualities. Clare has a passion for development and has made major contributions to a number of first-of-their-kind and award winning projects in challenging markets across Africa.
Clare was key in the successful implementation of our Multifaceted Infrastructure Project that comprised Water Supply, road works, Marine Services and Electricity Generation. Clare was able to meticulously negotiate the Permits, Licenses, complex agreements, and managed the EPCs to successful completion. This can be challenging in Africa, but her focus, dedication and deep understanding in structuring commercial agreements was exceptional. I regard Clare very highly and have no reservations recommending her anywhere.
