Client Spotlight: Sign-Up.to

The world is getting smaller and busier every day. The average Western consumer sees more than 3,000 marketing messages a day. In a crowded environment it is hard to ensure that your messages are seen by the people you are aiming for and that they are relevant to them. Our client spotlight this month looks at a company which is revolutionising the industry through a smart and easy-to-use system.

Launched ten years ago by Matt and Charles McNeil, Sign-Up.to is one of the UK’s leading permission-based marketing suppliers. Based in Woking, Surrey, and Brisbane, Australia, they now employ 25 people.

Matt and Charles realised that many companies were wasting money and everyone’s time unless the focus of their marketing was on people who wanted to hear from them. They investigated the market and couldn’t find any suppliers who were able to do this and so set about developing a system that would provide everything needed to identify and build relationships with the people that wanted to hear from you.

In order to make permission marketing really work, they identified the need to put the consumer in control; they determine what the consumer is interested in and when they want to hear from you. In addition, the consumer needs to know that their privacy is respected.

That's why every person who subscribes to receive information from a company using Sign-Up.to can view and update all of their subscriptions and personal details from a single, secure page – putting them in control. Through this and a number of other initiatives, Sign-Up.to is building a ‘Brand of Trust’ to help make e-marketing work for everyone.

Another feature of Sign-Up.to is that through the use of clever technology, the email newsletter becomes responsive and will adapt to fit the device you are using to view it, including mobile phones, laptops, tablets and, of course, your pc.

Over the past ten years Sign-Up.to and Matt McNeil have won and been shortlisted for numerous awards including The Cable & Wireless Award for Customer Focus, The Orange Best Use of Technology in Business Award and Growing Business Magazine 'Young Gun' .They have also featured in a Channel 4 documentary. Through innovative systems that offer a cost-effective solution to their clients, they have attracted thousands of clients from across the world including the Ministry of Justice, Orange, The Economist, Pacha nightclubs and even the artist Seal.

Sign-Up.to first used Keystone in 2007 to review their various contracts and terms and conditions. As growing businesses driven by technology, Keystone and Sign-Up.to have a natural synergy.

“As an entrepreneur in a technology-driven world, I needed a legal team who understood my business, the emerging technology and legal issues which would influence how we did business. Keystone was able to offer everything I needed under one roof with City expertise and the guaranteed promise of experienced senior lawyers handling my work all at a cost-effective rate.”
